Michele & Heather
Instructor of Pilates, Chinese Martial Arts & Dance
Michele Miller
Michele has been teaching movement for over 30 years. She began her study of The Pilates Method at the Pilates Studio in NYC (equipment and mat) and at Dance Space Center (mat) with Cary Regan in 1986. She began teaching Pilates in 1993 in Seattle and enjoys working with all levels of individuals, from all backgrounds and physical abilities on both the equipment and the mat.
Michele has been teaching martial arts since 1996. She holds a fourth degree black belt in Kajukenbo Kung Fu and is an approved instructor of Bak Sil Lum Kung Fu and Koo’s Style Taiji under Cheung Yiu Shing in Hong Kong. Michele also studied Chen Style Taiji with Derryl Willis and Andy Dale in Seattle. She is currently studying Sun Style Taiji with Master Su Zifang in Singapore. She began Seattle Sil Lum with her wife and partner Heather Coyle in 2006 and continues to teach Bak Sil Lum and Koo’s Style Taiji to her students online and in person from her new home in Vermont.
Michele’s home base in movement is dance. She began teaching dance in NYC in 1989 at Dance Space, Inc. after completely two levels of Lynn Simonson’s Teacher’s Training course. Most recently Michele was a Professor of Dance at Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle, WA where she taught for 25 years before moving to Vermont.
All of Michele’s movement classes focus on form and function and she shares her love of movement readily with her students. Expect to be challenged gently, encouraged greatly and have fun while developing strength, balance, focus and flexibility, reconnecting with your body in new ways.
Acupuncturist
Heather Coyle
Heather Coyle, a licensed acupuncturist, offers individualized, personal acupuncture sessions for pain reduction, injury treatment and many other general health issues.
Heather completed a year-long certification in Sports Medicine Acupuncture® in 2010, an advanced training in complex pain conditions, both from sports related activities, overuse conditions and life traumas.
Pain is the most common reason a person seeks acupuncture, and this specialization has dramatically improved the clinic’s outcomes.
Beyond treating pain, Heather’s training is in Traditional Chinese Medicine, which looks at the whole body, determining the patterns of imbalance, and using acupuncture to bring it back into balance. She supports the sessions with appropriate lifestyle advice, corrective exercises, and Chinese herbal applications.
